Fayza Haikal, Professor of Egyptology in the Department of Sociology, Anthropology, Psychology, and Egyptology (SAPE) served on July 7 as the examiner for a Ph.D. dissertation she was co-supervising for the Faculty of Archaeology, Cairo University. The thesis presented 275 wooden stelae from Thebes dating to Dynasty 21-26, scattered through museums across the world. It fine-tuned the typology of the stelae and in some cases their dating, and revisited their role in funerary religion through their iconography and the texts they presented.
