Ira Dworkin

Ira Dworkin, Assistant Professor in the Department of English and Comparative Literature, has been appointed to a 3-year term on the International Committee of the American Studies Association (ASA). Ira’s term begins on July 1, 2012. According to the ASA’s website, HERE, the organization was founded in 1951 and presently “has 5,000 individual members along with 2,200 library and other institutional subscribers,” which makes it the largest and most important association in the field.

Also, on May 24, 2012, Ira will be delivering an invited plenary lecture entitled “Reading Malcolm X Reading Mark Twain: On the Routes of American Anti-Imperialism,” at the OASIS-Orientale American Studies International School  at the Università di Napoli (L’Orientale) conference center on the island of Procida.
