Sherine Fahmy, Associate Professor of Practice in the Department of Journalism and Mass Communication, is organizing an alumni event in London on July 14, 2011, in collaboration with MICA Gallery, one of the renowned art galleries in London. The event is a reception for AUC’s UK alumni, who will meet with President Lisa Anderson. President Anderson will speak about the role AUC played during the revolution, and what this means for the future of Egypt and indeed for future generations. Sherine will also speak about the effect of Social Media on Egypt's January 25 Revolution. MICA gallery, is organizing this cultural event, entitled ‘From Facebook To Nassbook,’ as part of the London Mayor’s extensive Festival “Shubbak: A Window on Contemporary Arab Culture," dedicated to celebrating the very best of contemporary culture from across the Arab world. The Festival will run from July 4 – 24, 2011 and will feature numerous aspects of Arab culture, ranging from architecture, dance, design, and film to literature, poetry, music and the visual arts. The Festival hopes to strengthen relationships across culture, business, tourism, and the retail and education sectors.
who will be MICA gallery has also chosen to showcase a number of contemporary Egyptian figures in art, culture, and thought. Sherine has taken up the organization of artists showcasing their work about Egypt and the revolution. A number of alumni are also taking part in this, as well as faculty members and renowned photographers.
The official launch of “Shubbak” will take place on July 11th, 2011 at the Victoria and Albert Museum in London.
Finally, Sherine has made arrangements with MICA gallery to have two of AUC's Integrated Marketing Communication (IMC) students do an internship at the gallery during this event.

3. Encouraging a better relationship between the people and the Police.
This competition is across all universities in Egypt, and each of the above entered with three films as part of one campaign. The results will be announced in a celebration event on July 15th 2011 at the Cairo Opera House, and all the participating students are invited to attend.
The judges include various film-makers and other celebrities.
This event will be attended by the Minister of Higher Education.
